From June 30, 2022, responsive search ads became the only Search ad type that can be created or edited in standard Search campaigns. Existing expanded text ads continue to serve and report and can be paused, resumed or removed, but cannot be edited, including their final URLs. Call ads and Dynamic Search Ads were unaffected.
Originally announced August 2021. Google recommended at least one responsive search ad per ad group and cited a 7% average conversion lift for advertisers switching to RSAs with the same assets, rising to 20% when combined with broad match and Smart Bidding.
