Google Ads API & Scripts
- Google open-sourced a read-only Google Ads API MCP server for AI agents
Google released an open source Model Context Protocol server for the Google Ads API so MCP-compatible AI applications (such as Gemini) can query and analyze advertising accounts in natural language. The initial release is read-only for reporting and diagnostics. Source
- Call-only ads deprecated: creation blocked from January 2026, serving ends February 2027
Google is retiring the call-only ad format (built on the legacy ETA framework). With v23 in January 2026, creating or duplicating call-only ads is blocked in all API versions, the UI, Editor and SA360; existing ads keep serving and remain editable until February 2027, when all call-only ads stop and API support is removed. ChatGPT Ads
- Apps in ChatGPT and Apps SDK launched at DevDay with retail and travel partners including Target and Instacart
At DevDay OpenAI launched apps that run inside ChatGPT conversations and an Apps SDK built on MCP. Launch partners included Booking.com, Expedia and Zillow, with Target, Instacart, DoorDash and Uber listed as coming soon; merchant apps later became the route for in-chat purchases after Instant Checkout was scaled back.
