OpenAI told advertising partners that campaigns promoting standalone image- and audio-generation products would no longer be approved to run in ChatGPT, according to reporting by The Information. Video-generation tools can still advertise. The change was communicated privately to partners rather than published as a policy update.
Adobe is among the advertisers affected: it took part in OpenAI's initial advertising pilot promoting Acrobat Studio and its Firefly AI image generator, and Adobe's Doug Wyatt confirmed partners had been told those campaigns would no longer be approved. The restriction lands as OpenAI expands its own image and voice generation inside ChatGPT, so it shields OpenAI's first-party features from competing ads while it builds ChatGPT Ads into a larger revenue line. OpenAI has not published the restriction or confirmed it publicly.
