For about an hour overnight on September 8, 2026, the Search Console page indexing report showed indexed pages, including site homepages, as 'Crawled - currently not indexed'. John Mueller confirmed it was a short blip that was fixed the same night.
- Ryan Tree and Glenn Gabe reported homepages that were plainly indexed appearing under 'Crawled - currently not indexed'.
- Mueller said it 'was a short blip that was resolved quickly in the night (before these posts happened)' and that nothing breaks when indexing itself is working as expected.
- Only the report was wrong; indexing and serving were unaffected.
- Sites pulling data through the Search Console API during the incident window captured the incorrect statuses in their own reporting.
