Google announced a September 2026 update to Google TV masthead format requirements that permits several previously prohibited asset categories: alcohol, healthcare and medicines, some consumer electronics, and sports betting plus US and Canada Daily Fantasy Sports assets.
- Consumer electronics now allowed include audio equipment, computers, wearables, imaging gear and smart home infrastructure such as routers and thermostats. Televisions, smartphones, tablets and soundbars remain prohibited.
- All other gambling-related assets stay prohibited, including offline gambling, online gambling, online non-casino games and social casino games.
- Assets must still comply with the underlying Alcohol, Healthcare and medicines, and Gambling and games policies; the update does not change their scope, certification requirements or targeting restrictions.
- The update also adds a list of common masthead policy disapproval reasons and reformats the policy page.
- Posted August 25, 2026; effective at an unspecified date in September 2026.
