Walmart partnered with OpenAI to enable Walmart and Sam's Club purchases via Instant Checkout in ChatGPT

Walmart announced customers and Sam's Club members would be able to plan, restock and complete purchases directly inside ChatGPT using Instant Checkout, the largest retailer to sign on to OpenAI's agentic commerce push.
- Walmart said the integration would arrive later in fall 2025.
- Walmart later reportedly measured in-chat checkout converting worse than click-throughs to walmart.com, one of the data points behind OpenAI's March 2026 pullback.
