Google announced stronger enforcement of the EU User Consent Policy for audience and measurement features and upgraded the consent mode API with two new parameters (ad_user_data and ad_personalization). Advertisers in the EEA had to send verifiable consent signals before March 2024 to keep personalization and remarketing working.
Google's EU policy team began emailing suspension warnings to advertisers without compliant consent banners on January 23, 2024.
