Google announced that campaigns using the default targeting setting, which covers people in, searching for or viewing pages about a location, would begin reaching more users located in other countries whose searches indicate interest in the targeted area. Advertisers who only want people physically in the location can switch to that setting or add country exclusions.
The change was scheduled to take effect a few weeks after the announcement. Advertisers were advised to watch the geographic report for new international traffic once it rolled out.
