Google Ads
- Search ads shown at the top of the page became eligible to also compete in bottom-of-page auctions
Google lifted the restriction limiting an advertiser to a single ad location per results page: relevant ads already appearing at the top can now also compete for bottom positions. Google reported roughly 10% more highly relevant ads and 14% more conversions from bottom ads in testing. Source
- Reports gained a hierarchical 'tree table' view showing campaign, ad group and asset relationships
Thomas Eccel shared the new tree table option that nests campaign, ad group and lower-level rows in a hierarchy instead of a flat table. Google did not announce the rollout, which reached accounts gradually. Source
- Accelerated checkout launched for Demand Gen campaigns with product feeds in the US
Demand Gen ads on YouTube in-stream inventory can now send shoppers straight to a merchant checkout page. Merchants supply a checkout URL template in Merchant Center or per-product checkout link attributes. Google cited an 11% lift in conversion value at similar CPA. Source
- All five Performance Max description slots standardised to a 90-character limit
Performance Max asset groups no longer have a 60-character short description slot; all five descriptions now allow up to 90 characters. Source
Google Analytics
- GA4 began using aggregate identifiers to attribute Google Ads traffic when GCLID is unavailable
Google Analytics now leverages aggregate identifiers (e.g. gbraid, gad_ parameters) as a fallback so paid Google Ads traffic is attributed to source, medium, campaign and channel even when the click ID cannot be used, such as when users deny ad_user_data consent. Advertisers should keep auto-tagging on and link Ads to Analytics. Source
- GA4 Reports snapshot gained templates (User behavior, Sales and revenue, Marketing performance)
The Reports snapshot now supports predefined templates and an updated card library so users can quickly configure an overview tailored to their objective. Source
Google Ads API & Scripts
- Google Ads API v17 sunset confirmed for June 4, 2025
Google Ads API v17 requests began failing on June 4, 2025; developers had to upgrade to v18 or later. Source
Microsoft Ads
- Direct agency-to-client account link requests were temporarily disabled for fraud prevention
Agencies lost the ability to send client connection requests directly and had to go through Microsoft support, adding 5 to 7 business days per link. Microsoft called the change temporary. Source
