Optimized Tag Manager containers began sending data straight to Google destinations

A Tag Manager release note says containers can now send data directly to Google measurement products through destination tags. Previously the container loaded an extra gtag.js script, which could delay transmission and split settings and diagnostics across two places.

Google says settings, permissions and troubleshooting now connect more directly to destinations inside the container, so there is one place to look when a tag is misconfigured instead of two. The change follows the October 8 release note that standardized gtag('config') behaviour and made config commands appear in the dataLayer as gtag.config events.
