Budget recommendations began warning that lowering a budget would cut forecast conversion value

Google Ads started tying budget recommendations to a forecast. When an advertiser moves to reduce a daily budget, the interface projects the weekly conversion value they would lose and flags the campaign as limited by budget.

  • The warning shows projected weekly conversion value and a "limited by budget" alert when you lower a daily budget.
  • Appears both in the recommendation interface and inside campaign budget settings.
  • Spotted by Thomas Eccel, who called it a "new, annoying new Budget Feature" and noted the obvious problem: "lowering Budget will decrease conversion value, but for some reasons we have to lower sometimes our budgets."
  • No change to what you are able to do. This is friction and forecasting in the UI, not a restriction, but it is worth knowing about before a client asks why Google is warning them off a budget cut they requested.
