Merchant API beta announced as the successor to the Content API for Shopping

Google announced the Merchant API beta, a modular redesign of the Content API for Shopping with eight sub-APIs (Data Sources, Notifications, Products, Inventory, Accounts, Local Feeds Partnership, Promotions, Reports), push notifications and a NonProductPerformanceView report. New features would launch primarily on the Merchant API going forward.

Google said the Merchant API beta did not yet have full feature parity with the Content API. The Content API for Shopping was later formally deprecated with a shutdown date of August 18, 2026.
