Google added a dedicated prediction markets section to its main Gambling and games policy page. It allows ads only in the locations listed in the policy's location specifics, only from licensed prediction market providers holding the required local financial, commodity or gaming permits, and only from accounts Google has certified and approved.
The section also requires that the products and the ads follow local law, financial regulation and industry standards as well as every other Google Ads policy, with advertisers responsible for doing their own research, and that the targeted location is eligible for certification. The general rules are not obviously new, but tying them to prediction markets specifically makes them easier to enforce. It follows Google prohibiting prediction market ads in Connecticut on October 7, the fifth US state removed from the program.
