Google's alcohol policy now permits 0% alcohol beverages to be advertised in India, Indonesia and Egypt, three countries where alcohol advertising is otherwise banned. Advertisers targeting those countries must first complete Google's certification requirements.
- A separate 0% alcohol advertising application form is required for each location an advertiser intends to target, and advertisers must re-certify immediately if their application details materially change.
- The policy page was restructured with new sections on alcohol ad requirements and the 0% certification application.
- Low-alcohol drinks (under 0.5% ABV) and non-alcoholic substitutes can be promoted where local law and industry standards allow.
- New prohibitions cover misleading claims about a drink's nature or strength and presenting alcohol as a way to shed social or sexual inhibitions.
