Search Console added a Search generative AI control to exclude sites from AI Overviews, AI Mode and Discover

A new Settings > Search generative AI control lets property owners include (default) or exclude their site's links and content from AI Overviews, AI Mode and generative AI features in Discover, with child properties able to inherit the parent's setting; exclusion is not a ranking signal.

Launched UK-first under a UK CMA conduct requirement, rolling out to sites outside the UK from July 2026 and to all websites worldwide on August 31, 2026. A detailed help document covering access, inheritance and timing was published in late June 2026.
